Drone Delivery Is Coming Even Closer (Maybe)

Imagine for a minute that you're not home. You're at work or you're out enjoying the weekend at your favorite hang out. You have no idea what's happening around your home and you get a picture or video on your smart phone and it's an image of your house all safe and secure just as you left it. Well you may not have to imagine it here soon. Amazon just received a patent for a delivery drone with surveillance capabilities. Now before you raise concerns about whether it will spy on your property. It won't. The surveillance is purely for if you opt into the service. You have to give express permission for the drone to take any footage, whether it be still images or live video footage. The next thing is that it will have geo-fencing technology that will only allow it to view property that the drone has been given permission to monitor. Now I will bring some issues that weren't put to rest. What will the service cost? Will it raise prices on deliveries from Amazon? And will the service be cheaper than investing in your own security cameras? Sadly, there are no details on any of these issues or if Amazon will actually implement home security into these delivery drones. Here's the link to the story. The only thing we do know is certain areas will have a drone delivery service "soon". Maybe within the next few months. If I were to guess it's only going to happen with areas that have an Amazon warehouse very nearby. I personally keep hoping our advances in battery life will extend so these services can reach further but for now it's stuck in high traffic areas.
